Fall is officially upon us now. The leaves have turned, and here in the Northeast the weather has taken a chilly turn. It's time to start thinking about the Holidays, but perhaps too early to truly get serious about it. Why not sit and scrap a spell?

Each month our newsletter team tries out some of the most popular products from the Tomorrow's Memories store. This month Emelyn, Emily B., Jen K., Laura B., Mary H. and Sonda put products from KI Memories, Bazzill, SEI, Scrappy Cat Creations, Chatterbox and Making Memories to good use on pages about kids, grandparents and themselves.

Mama's Boy by Emelyn

It's official, so far and from now on, I have and will include a layout featuring KI Memories in every newsletter.  I can't help it, I am so in love with the product line! For this layout, I used the KI Memories Bazzill cardstocks with the new texture.  I also used papers and die cuts from KI's Journey line.  Lately my favorite technique is to ink the edges of my papers and accents.  I used the Tim Holtz Distress Inks-Vintage Photo-to give the layout texture and a distressed feel.  I also inked the edges of the die cuts to be consistent with the papers.  I used pop dots on the flower and letter tiles to help the title stand out and give dimension.  I created the title with the KI Memories rub on letters.  Using pink and black, I was able to relate with the masculine feel of the layout--my son--and at the same time add the feminine feel from me as Mama.

KI Memories Meets Bazzill by Mary H.

It's textured, it's beautiful, and it matches perfectly!  Must be the Bazzill cardstock that coordinates with KI Memories paper.  As a big fan of KI Memories, I just had to have every color when the Bazzill cardstock came out and the KI Memories layouts are just filling up my albums.  As I sat in the living room fondling my new KI-Bazzill paper, my husband looked at me and made the big mistake of saying "Mary, it's just paper".  Just paper!  Just paper!  I began listing for him the reasons why I NEEDED this paper.

First of all, the texture is unlike any paper I've ever owned.  I don't know if I'd call it pebbly or stucco-like, but I love touching it and I love what it adds to my layouts.

Secondly, it matches perfectly!  I don't waste my precious scrapping time sifting through stacks of cardstock to find the piece that matches Beautiful Rhinestone Reverse, which I used in the "beautiful Girl" layout.

Third, I like it when layouts come together easily.  Because it matches so well with the KI Memories paper, it all matches the KI Memories embellishments.  In "Silly Bubba" the patterned paper matches the cardstock matches the embellishments and so I add some rub-ons, a stamped subtitle and a KI Memories buckle painted and then treated with crackle medium and the layout is done.

Lastly, it is Bazzill.  Bazzill could come out with a line called "Street Garbage" and I'd have to collect every color.

If you haven't seen/felt/fondled the KI Memories Bazzill cardstock, you need to.  It's not just paper.

Finger Play by Sonda

Fabrics pair well with all the Chatterbox paper designs. My “Finger Play” layout was created using a sheet from their Powder Room Collection, a matching sheet of 8.5x11 Bazzill cardstock and a large piece of white fabric. Using the pattern as the background and placing the focal photo on the solid cardstock really makes the photo stand out.

Are you hesitating to try these new papers? Just grab a few sheets and experiment a little bit. You'll be surprised at what you might come up with.

Spring Truce by Laura B.

Lately I've been drawn to orange. I'm not sure why, although I have a feeling it has a lot to do with these awesome Chatterbox oranges! Here's I used the Tangerine and Rosie Posies from the Powder Room collection with the matching Light Tangerine Bazzill Cardstock.

I added Frills Self Adhesive Ribbon to create the super easy frame around the focal point photo and to soften the edges I added just a tiny bit of white acrylic paint.

Frills Self-Adhesive Ribbon by Emily B.

These new ribbons from Frills make using ribbon on your pages so easy!  With adhesive already applied, you don't have to worry about how you'll get that ribbon to stick to your page.  These have covered adhesive on the back making it easy to play around with the ribbon and decide placement before sticking it down.  When you are ready to attach your ribbon, remove the adhesive backing and adhere your ribbon as usual.  The adhesive has a good hold - so there are no worries about your ribbon wandering off to the bottom of your page protector!  Each color themed card of ribbon has one yard each of five different ribbons in the popular themes we all want - grosgrain, gingham, dots, and more.  With ten different color options, you are sure to need more than one!  In the layout "My Baby" I used the green grosgrain ribbon over the seam line of my printed papers - I love that look and it was so easy to have the adhesive already applied to my ribbon.

Grow and Prosper by Laura B.

Making Memories new Alphafetti alphabet stickers resemble those letters cut from different magazine ads to create ransom notes on Charlie's Angels or Magnum P.I. They add a touch of whimsy to titles or cards. (Just don't try to line them up in a straight line!) Here I used matched up the Dark Alphafetti with Bobunny patterned paper and Bazzill Chatterbox cardstock for a quick layout about my kids as we practiced for our Christmas card photo shoot.

BoBunny Cardstock Stickers by Jen K.

In both of these layouts, I used Bo Bunny Press Cardstock Stickers. I used Cool in the Pool for the pool layout, and Grandpa and Me, for the Bear Mountain layout.

These sturdy stickers are so versatile and easy to use. They are very bright, clear, and look very realistic. Each large strip, comes with enough stickers to do at least a two-page spread. On both of these layouts, I still had left overs when I was finished. The embellishments on these stickers look so real, you'll really think you added the real thing.

My View by Sonda

The new SEI Granny's Kitchen papers are so fun to work with!  I really like the colors and since they are double sided it makes them very easy to use.  For my layout titled “My View” I used a picture of my daughter taken at the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  The paper fit PERFECTLY with the abundance of water and sand!  I used paint for the title, half of a sheet for the bottom and flipped it over to make the strip.  So simple!

Jack by Emily B.

I love the new paper sets from SEI!  On the layout Jack I used five different prints from the Granny's Kitchen line.

These prints look so well together and coordinate for such a nice look.  SEI's papers are a heavier, more cardstock weight paper and are double sided with different prints on each side, so they do double duty when working on your page.  I love how easy they are to use!

Happy Girl by Emelyn

I love the Scrappy Cat patterned papers.  The design on the papers make creating layouts simple!  For the Happy Girl layout, I started out with Queen and Company Frills ribbon on the bottom.  Since the ribbons are self-adhesive, it was very easy to create the border. I then added my photos and a Making Memories Like It Is sticker as an accent.  Since the patterned papers are reversible, I was able to find a perfect match for my title box.  The letter stickers and green ribbons gave the layout a final touch

Explore New Texture by Emelyn

For this layout I used a Becky Higgins sketch to help me incorporate all the photos I had.  I also used the Making Memories Like It Is stickers in place of some photos designated in the sketch--they were a perfect fit.

I finished the layout with the matching Scrappy Cat letter stickers and Making Memory Simply Stated Rub Ons for a fun title.

Thank You Tag by Emily B.

E-Z Walnut Ink makes aging your tags and papers easier than ever!  No mixing or spray bottles needed.  The E-Z Walnut Ink comes pre-mixed in a sponge applicator bottle.  To use, you just tap it onto your tag or paper - adding as little or as much as you want for the desired effect.  On my "Thank You" card I used the E-Z Walnut Ink to very lightly put a smooth browned appearance on my library pocket.  Note on the pocket, I wanted color but not necessarily splotches.  To create this effect I placed the sponge applicator on one side of the pocket and I pulled it across with a smooth motion.  For the tag on the inside of my library pocket I wanted that traditional walnut ink look - lots of splotches and variations in color - so I tapped the sponge applicator to the tag, holding it down longer in some places than others.  The E-Z Walnut Ink is acid-free and dries very quickly.

Far and Away Facades by Mary H.
The Far and Away Facades line should be taking the scrapbooking world by storm!  The paper is stunning with a wide range of colors from the girly pink (with blue undercurrents) to the tans of Tumbleweed Stucco.  And the paper really does look like a façade of a building.  The Peeling Plaster paper is just too lifelike.  I kept feeling the paper to make sure it wasn't really plaster peeling.  That paper will be perfect for the photos of DH remodeling the bathroom.  The pearls papers are beautiful and the Princess Pearl paper with the coordinating stickers made the Princess Krissy go together in a snap.
I'd wanted something a little different for these photos.  I didn't want to go with the distressed look for pictures that I thought were so pretty and yet I also didn't want to use the bright paper that I usually reach for first.  The Far and Away Facades paper fit the bill perfectly.
