Tim Holtz Distress Inks by Emily B.
The new colors of Tim Holtz distressing inks are in stock and just awesome! I was so excited to get
these and try them out - the colors are gorgeous and
work perfectly for adding color to your layouts. In the layout "Henry" I scrapped my little guy's first
Christmas using the Peeled Paint Distress Ink to add a green edge
to all my photo mats and borders. I applied the ink
direct to paper using a foam sponge. This is such an easy way to add color!
All of the black lettering on this layout, was done
with the new Doodlebug Expressions rub-ons. These come in three different sizes and make it so easy to add
a title, and subtitles, too! I love them!

Distressing is Fun! by Mary H.
I've come to one conclusion: Distressing is FUN! And the new Tim Holtz Distress Inks make it easy. They can be used in so many ways. On the "Krissy Age 3" layout, my papers already had that aged look to them, but the ribbon and my photo mat did not. Using just a cotton ball, I applied Tea Dye ink to the ribbon and the photo mat and instantly, my layout had that coordinated, finished look to it.

These ink pads are perfect for inking the edges of paper. On my "Bubba" layout l inked every edge I could find. The square ink pad was so easy to hold and I love the look that the Walnut Ink gave my layout. These ink pads can also be used for stamping. I love how the Walnut Ink title matches the inked edges perfectly.

Another great thing about the Distress Inks is their ability to spread when wet and yet still retain their true color. On the "Anniversary Card" I did for my parent's 30th Anniversary, I used the Tattered Rose Distress Ink on a piece of pink patterned paper. First, I crumpled the paper and then used the Tattered Rose on the creases. I spritzed with water and then dried with an iron. I love the way the creases are dark with the ink getting lighter as it spreads.

Lastly, the inks can be used directly on photos as I did on the photo used on "Still In Love." I wanted this picture of my husband and I to look a little aged to coordinate with the title Still In Love...After all these years. I used a brayer to apply the Tea Dye Ink directly to my photo and then I allowed it to dry. I love the way the Tea Dye Ink gave the photo a sepia look, but on a colored photo.
The Distress Inks have quickly become one of those "can't scrap without it" items.

Nicknames by Sonda
Using several patterns gives a page a unique look. SEI has many different collections which include circles, squares and stripes.
For my "Nicknames" layout I used the stripes as the main pattern focus and paired it with some of the circles and words. I also like that they are two-sided making the colors match perfectly! Ranger also has some fun distressing inks that come in many colors now. Here I used the Walnut Ink for the alpha letters. The inks can be used so many different ways. Get creative with your ink use!

Christmas is coming upon us quickly!! After creating a layout, why not use those scraps to create a tag or card before you clean up? For my tag here, I used a scrap piece of the SEI paper, stamped it with some acrylic paint, let it dry, and then crumpled it. Once dry, I swiped the entire tag with a Fired Brick Tim Holtz Distress Ink pad, spritzed it with water, which allowed all the ink to bleed into the creases, and let it dry completely. Then I added all kinds of fun goodies!! This resist technique was so fun to do and made this plain pastel tag look very rich and distressed.

Karen Foster Christmas by Emily B.

I always love the Karen Foster collections - they
combine great themes, papers that mix & match
wonderfully, and fun stickers to make fast and great
looking layouts. For the layout "Christmas 2003" I
used 4 different papers from the new Christmas line.
I inked the edges of the mats and borders with the Tim
Holtz Walnut Ink Distressed Ink Pad to give it a
finished feel, and added stickers from the
coordinating Christmas sticker sheet. I really love
the colors in these Christmas paper - they are rich,
traditional, and will look great with your holiday
pictures.

Doodlebug Christmas Cards by Emily B.

The new Doodlebug line is so bright and colorful it will put you in the mood for the holiday! Using
a more modern color palette for Christmas, they are a
brighter red and green that looks very trendy!
Doodlebug papers always mix together in such an easy, fun way. I cut different size strips and rectangles
to make my three Christmas cards. On the Merry Christmas
card, I also used a coordinating Doodlebug Christmas
word - these are a fun addition to pages and cards!
Squared by My Mind's Eye by Jen K.

I just fell in love with the new Squared Complete page kits by My Mind's Eye. These new monochromic packs come in 16 different themes with two double-sided 12x12 cardstock sheets, and ten small coordinating squares. The kits are also great for 6x6 pages!
I love the look of the muted colors, and the boldness of the patterned papers. I also used some matching Bazzill paper for mounting, and in both layouts used Making Memories Simply Stated rub-ons.
I mounted all the block cut-outs with white paper, which really helped them pop on the page without getting lost in the background. Another item (which I did not use) but would go really well with these papers are the Doodlebug tokens. They have the same look, and come in similar colors.
