The newsletter team had a fabulous time working the the new lines from Doodlebug. Coordinating paper, cardstock stickers, rub-ons and matching Bazzill cardstock make designing fabulous layouts easy and fun! And be sure to check out Mary's very helpful review of the KI Memories Supplement!
Doodlebug Designs by Mary H.
Anyone who knows me knows that I'm a big fan of color. My scraproom is even painted a bright "happy" yellow. That is why I'm such a fan of Doodlebug Designs. Their papers are always bright, colorful, and fun! I love the new alphabet stickers. The stickers are all cardstock weight and come in three different styles and many different colors.
On the Baby Smiles layout, I used the Teeny Tags. These stickers look just like the little jeweler's tags that are so popular and feature a really cute font.

The alphabet stickers on "Krissy's Got Attitude" layout are the Just Plain cardstock stickers. This page was so quick and easy because the stickers coordinate perfectly with the bright papers.
I don't think you can get more girly than the pink Doodlebug papers and stickers on this layout. Since the picture was taken while we were camping, I roughed up the bright papers a bit with the Tim Holtz Distress Inks.

Kiss Those Lips by Emelyn
When I saw the Paradise Punch papers from Doodlebug, I knew the perfect pictures to use them with. My daughter's blue lips from the blue ketchup match the paper perfectly! I used the matching Doodlebug cardstock from Bazzill and the letter stickers for the title. I also used the Doodlebug Expressions rub-ons to add to the title and the verbage on the vellum tag. The tiny flower on
the Scrapworks die cut was also from the rub on sheet! It was a quick layout that showcased my silly little girl with blue lips!

Super Genius by Emelyn
I LOVE these huge letter stickers from Doodlebug. They totally make the
title stand out and be heard! For this layout I used two patterned papers from the Paradise Punchline. The pinks helped bring out her pink pants and her cute rosey lips! She is my up-and-coming
CEO for Microsoft!

Welcome Baby Card by Emelyn
After creating my layouts, I used the some of the scraps to make a baby
girl card. I used a couple of the Teeny Tag letter stickers and handwritten sentiment for the card message. I finished the card with a Doodlebug token embellishing the turned corner of the title
box.

Paul by Chris D

The bright colors of the DoodleBug Toucan Tango line were the
perfect papers for this layout because there isn't much color in the photo itself. These papers brought out the small touches of color in the photo. The block paper made the perfect frame. The Toucan Tango paper was a lot of fun for me because the colors are so bright. And I really liked the coordinating letter stickers. There are just so many things you can do with this paper

C.J. by Chris D

The pastels in the DoodleBug Paradise Punch line of papers are perfect for baby pictures. There are really only two colors in the photo (the green and pink on the blanket and the pinkness in CJ's face). So the
papers in this line helped bring out those colors. This was a really
simple layout because all these papers work so well together that it's
really just a matter of imagination on how you want to use them.

Baby Jack by Peggy S.
The Doodlebug Seabreeze line was just perfect for this layout of sweet little Jack in his "Hungry Catepillar" outfit. the bright colors fit perfectly with the colors form this favorite Eric Carle. I used the striped pattern paper, and Just Plain Simple alphabet stickers with light blue, white, and bright blue Bazzill cardstock accents. The cute catepillar was made with a circle punch and zig marker. I even had enough scraps left over for two cards.
The Happy Birthday card is made with light blue Bazzill, and polka dot patterned paper from the Seabreeze line. The title made with Teeny Tag alphabet stickers linked with blue embroidery floss, and
Just Plain Simple alphabet stickers.
The flower card is made with light blue Bazzill cardstock as the base. Polka dot patterned paper from the Doodlebug Seabreeze line is layered over the base with flowers punched using the EK Whale of a Punch daisy and a smaller swirl for the centers.

New Shoes
by Laura B.
My daughter has never been a pastel sort of girl. With dark hair and fair skin, she has always looked better in brights. I almost think these Doodlebug papers and coordinating stickers were made with Amy in mind.
I have had this photograph in my "to scrap" pile for more than four years. The squares on the paper in the Doodlebug Paradise Punch line mimics the logo on the piece of the shoe box from her first pair of baby shoes. A few Teeny Tags for the title, Expressions for the date and a few yellow brads pull the entire page together.

The Big Sandbox by Laura B.
The new coordinating lines from Doodlebug are so versatile, I used the same patterns on a layout of my daughter's first visit to Ocean City. Not familiar with the word "beach" she called it "the big sandbox." The Sew Simple alphabet stickers are so fun to use and really make your titles pop. I cut a piece of the patterned paper to fit inside the metal-rimmed tag and added a bit of orange ric rac for fun.

The new Love Worn Expressions and Weeble Wobble paper from Carolee's Creations were also big hits with the newsletter team.
Baby by Emily B

Fabric and twill textures are really popular right now - I love to use
them as accents in my layouts. In the layout "Baby" I used The Carolee's Creations Love Worn Expressions. The baby boy themed set of printed twill accents worked great together to add some extra touches to my layout. The printed twill is about 24 inches long so you can use it as a border top and bottom if you like, or on two pages. The individual twill pieces already have adhesive applied to the back so you just peel and stick to your layout. Love Worn expressions are available at Tomorrow's Memories in six themes - Friends, Summer, Baby Boy, Baby Girl, Love, and Outdoor.

Sweet Baby Girl by Peggy S.

The Carolee's Love Worn Expressions were the perfect
accent for these adorable portraits. The eyelet quote
and vellum tag (with photo mounted on it) are from Making Memories. I
brushed pink acrylic paint over the eyelet quote to fill in the lettering
with color and then wiped excess off with a tissue. I also added an
acrylic label holder mounted with pink brads over a section of the

Delaney by Peggy S.
I loved the colors of this airbrushed pink paper from the Carolee's Weeble Wobble line. I thought it was the perfect paper for these portraits of Delaney in her dedication dress. The paper was subtle, with just a touch of elegance and I did not feel it needed much else. My focal photo is enlarged and triple matted with a sheet of satin look vellum and cream and pink Bazzill cardstock. It was laid over a journal block created from the same shades of cardstock with a cross sticker in the lower right corner. I kept the facing page sinple by creating a border with unmatted photos along the bottom and my other favorite photo matted on a tag topped with white satin ribbon. The title was made using a monogram letter from the My Mind's Eye collection and rub on letters in the Heidi font by Making Memories. The final touch was a christening gown sticker from my stash.

Two Front Teeth by Emelyn
I totally dig these new Carolee's papers! The fact that they are double-sided makes creating
layouts soooo easy! The cool thing is that the second side is not just a solid coordinating color,
but an another actual pattern. It's a perfect subtle pattern to use as a background or for
matting.
I also used the new Carolee's Love Worn Expressions as my accents on the page. I slightly inked up the edges to give them an aged look. The twill is awesome because it comes printed! I also tied a knot to give it a little bit more dimension.

Baby Card by Emelyn

Once I had my supplies out, this card took me less than three minutes to make! I started with my card base, I used the strip of paper
that I already had from the layout then tore the bottom edge to fit the card. The part that I tore
off I flipped over and used as a mat for the Love Worn Expressions! How cool is that??? I inked the
edges of the papers and the twill, added a flower and brad...then voila! Easy as pie! The
patterned paper is subtle enough for the background, but pretty enough to fill up the white space
on the card. Next time you finish a layout, use the scraps on a card...have FUN!!

Little Boy Blue
by Chris D.
This had to be one of the simplest layouts I have ever done because the
Carolee's Creations Weeble Wobble paper does all the work for you!
It gives you a multi-paper layered look without all the weight and bulk.
The paper is double-sided which eliminates the guesswork in finding a
matching paper for matting photos. I
thought the blues in the Periwinkle line were perfect for this photo because I wanted to enhance the fact
that Pauly always wore blue, especially that hat. A little journaling, a few embellishments, a title and I was done. So simple!!

New Toy by Sonda T.

When creating a layout I like to use a color wheel to coordinate colors from my photos. For my "New Toy" layout I used a Rectangular Tetrad color combination and loads of Bazzill cardstock.
This was actually a challenge for myself...to create a simplistic page using only cardstock for paper and few embellishments. My title was created by running a piece of the cardstock thru my printer and handcutting the letters. And just in time for Easter, I used up my scraps to make this unusual masculine-looking page accent.

Idea Book Review: KI Memories Little Book of Big Ideas Supplement by Mary H.
I'm an idea book junkie. I love them. The one book that never leaves my desk is the KI Memories Little Book of Big Ideas. I love KI Memories (more colorful, fun papers) and use this book frequently. When I heard about the supplement, I was so excited. New ideas featuring the newer lines sounded great to me! 192 new ideas made this a must have. I have to admit, when I got it, I was a bit disappointed. I'd really been looking forward to ideas for the 2004 holiday lines and the book doesn't have very many.
Then, I took another look through it. The supplement has quite a few ideas on how to use the Wisdom papers, which I have a lot of and have never used. And so I sat down with the supplement and the Expecting Wisdom paper. Right away I found the perfect use for the quote I'd picked. I really liked the way the "In the Middle" idea brought the quote front and center by putting it in between two different patterned papers. I used this idea on the "Our Baby Girl" layout. Some of the other patterned paper ideas include painting vellum, slipping photos beneath it, and using it in strips (perfect for all those scraps of KI Memories paper I hoard).
I have so many of the Ki Memories punch outs such as the Frames, Blox, and Tags and so I flipped to the section on the Petite Frames and saw so many great ideas. I've never known how to use the Labels on the Frames and Labels punchouts. This section features tons of ideas on how to use those and ideas on using the Frames. I used the "Wrapped Around" idea on the "Just Call Me" layout. This idea added a fun touch to my title.
The idea supplement also features new ideas for using Tattoos on Icicles, mixing Mod Blox and Circles, and even ideas on using the KI Memories products on purses, letters, and miscellaneous gift items. All-in-all, I feel that the supplement was well worth my money and is a valulable addition to my idea book collection. And as I glanced through it again, I found that I can use many of the ideas on patterned papers, Icicles, and punch-outs on my 2004 holiday papers. That's my next project.
