Go Shopping  Inspirations  Idea Gallery   Family Tree   Message Boards

It has been awhile since a newsletter has been sent out. My apologies. We've been busy with orders, the site, trying to make some changes, plans, etc. Newsteam Members have had things going on at home as well so this newsletter will be a bit short.

On a personal note I do have a bit of information I wanted to share with all of you.  On April 5th I am scheduled to go into the hospital for major surgery. I will have to remain in the hospital for a few days, and then take a few weeks off for recovery. During that time, the site will be closed as I do not have "helpers" here to pull orders, answer emails, etc.  Right now, I am planning on at least two possibly three weeks* that the site will be closed. (the store section will close, the boards and Idea Gallery will remain open)
*It may be longer than this- it all depends on my recovery and Dr's Orders. I wanted to give a heads up to everyone on this.

Because of the temporary closing, I will be having a sale in March so you can stock up before I close. The sale will be starting March 5th until March 31st. I will send out details/coupon code on or around March 4th.

Also, this will be the last month for our layout contest.  We will still have mini contests during the month but will no longer have the layout contest.  On our message boards, we have challenges going on, RAKS, games, etc. The mini contests will be announced on the message boards when they are happening so please visit the boards for information on this. The girls have alot of fun with the challenges, Swaps, games, scavenger hunts and more. Please stop by when you can! We'd love to have you visit and get to know you all. Visit Message Boards

WeR Memory Keepers, Carolee's Creations, by Lisa L.

Heritage Layout: Products Used: Comstock Collection Paper
(Kitchen), Carolee's Creations Spice It Up Stickers, Tim Holtz Tea Dyed Ink.

TIP:  Don't be afraid to use parts of papers only; for example, I only used the border of the Cannister paper on this layout:   I was inspired by this picture because, at first, I thought of how imperfect it is but then I realized that it is perfectly genuine - untouched, unaltered, not cropped or printed with the best acid-free papers and non-fading inks.   There is something truly genuine about heritage pictures.   The Comstock "100%
Genuine" coaster tag worked perfectly with my theme.

Card: Products Used: Scraps from Comstock
Collection Paper and Coasters [In the Kitchen]:

TIP:  When you are finished a layout, make one card from your scraps.  Keep your cards together and you will always have one ready for any event.  Plus you will cut down on all of those extra bits lying around. The Comstock Papers and Kitchen Coasters
worked well to create a cute Valentine card....not a typical one...but adorable nonetheless.

Mini Tag Accordian Book Products Used:  AMM Tag Accordion Book (Spa), Heidi Grace Pocket Scraps Monograms (Daydreamer)
I have been wanting to put together a little book of my husband as a baby and child.  I was inspired by this little Accordian book.  It is simple and easy to use; just add your own embellishments, journalling and pictures and you have a timeless heritage keepsake.  And although it does not have a "typical" vintage feel, it works beautifully with these black and white
photos.

EK Success Inspirables by Peggy S.

I loved the colors in the EK inspirables line for a heritage feel for these photos. And I LOVE that you have choices in how to use the stencil alphabet stickers! I chose to remove the inside letter part (saving them for future use) and using the outer stencil portion for my title. The color coordinated papers make it so easy to layer patterns. The layout design is based on a sketch from the second Becky Higgins sketch book.

EK Inspirables

Heritage Mini Album by Mary H.

I've found that heritage photos make great gifts.  Everyone is interested in seeing their history and most people enjoy seeing photos from their past.  I always find my grandma to be hard to buy for.  At her age, she doesn't need a lot.  This year I decided to make her a gift.  I used some heritage photos of my grandparents to make an accordion album for my grandma for Christmas.  I started out with KI Unconditional paper and cut and adhered it to the background.  Then I started with photos of my grandparents before they were married and progressed to photos of their wedding and photos of their married life together.  The final photo is my grandfather punching the time clock on the day he retired.

The album was a pre-made album, so I painted the cover and added a rub-on and a sticker.  Then I added embellishments to some of the inside pages.  My grandfather passed away in 1993, so I really wanted the focus to be on the photos.  My grandma is a big fan of Helen Steiner Rice, so I searched the internet to find a fitting poem.  I printed the poem and cut it into strip to adhere to each page.  My grandma loved the album and it is small enough that she can carry it in her purse.

The next time you're searching for the perfect gift for someone, look for photos that show their past or photos of their heritage.  A quick mini-album with those photos will be treasured for years to come
