In other news... we have added a
Scrapper of the Month program to our Idea
Gallery.
Each month we will be choosing 2 layouts from 2
Members that have been posted in our Idea Gallery and those 2 Members will
be our Scrappers for the following Month.
Any layout is eligible, any
category, and at the end of the month, the two Scrappers will be chosen.
They then will receive product to design a layout or two to be added to the
Gallery in the Scrapper of the Month Category. The products sent to you (at no
charge to you) will be based on whatever theme our Design Team is working on
for that month. For instance, whatever the Team decides for November,
the Scrappers that are chosen at the end of October will receive product in
November for the Teams Theme. You will then be asked to upload your
completed layouts to the New Scrappers of the Month Category.
You can submit any number of
layouts, again, there isn't a specific category or theme. It isn't a
"contest" and anyone is eligible.
All we ask is that if you are
chosen, that the layouts created with the product received are loaded to the
Gallery in the Scrappers of the Month Category. If you are notified that you
have been chosen and are unable to participate, please let me know and an
alternate Scrapper will be chosen. If you have any questions, please email me.

Idea Gallery

Jennifer shares her layouts and thoughts on
BoBunny Press,
Bits &
Baubles and
Match'Em Ups. |
|
"Too Cute Too Spook" & "Pumpkin Pickin":
In these 2 layouts I used the new
paper and stickers from Bo-Bunny Press.
I just LOVE the look and details on the paper
and the stickers. The cardstock tag stickers
have so much detail on them, that they give
you the look of being handmade, without
the time that comes along with making them
yourself. There is even room on the tags to
add your own embellishments or journaling,
which will give them a more personal touch.
One thing I really liked about these stickers
is they are not overly sticky, so for little mishaps
they still can carefully be removed without
ripping the page underneath.
This is good news
for me, because I always find
myself rearranging
my page.
On the Too Cute to Spook page I also used
ABC bits & baubles stickers from Creative Imaginations.
These stickers are made of a
nice thick clear plastic
that will show the color
of the or pattern of the page
you place it on.
I really liked working with the
Bo-Bunny line,
and am anxiously awaiting to see
what other
lines they come out with.

"What a Big Boy":
In this layout, I used the new paper and sticker
line from Match'em Ups. What's really neat about
these papers and stickers is they are all clearly
marked with item numbers on the front of the
paper on a separate tear off perforated section
so you can easily reference them if you need to
run out and buy more, unlike other papers where
the information is on the back of the paper.
Which in my case by the time I realize I need the
information its usually too late because its already
taped down. They also have references on the
same tear off section, to other matching stickers
and papers in their line. Which is nice if you need
help in finding colors or stickers that coordinate good together.

While the summer brings
travel, the fall brings soccer! When I discovered, or rather
re-discovered, scrapbooking in June 2000, the first pages I
scrapbooked were soccer pages. Throughout the past few years I’ve
scrapbooked every kind of soccer pages imaginable... outdoor, indoor,
clinics, camps and tournaments. I’ve used green, black and white.
I’ve used red, white and blue. I’ve used orange, black and yellow.
I’ve even used flowered Sharon Ann patterned paper.
When I saw the new Earth
papers from
KI Memories, my first thought was mud. How perfect for a
whole new season of soccer pages here in the Northeast where instead
of fields of green, we have fields of mud.

The KI Memories patterned
and solid papers coordinate with Frames and Blox. The papers are
great fun to use and make layouts super fast and easy. See the Blox
on the team layout. The Frames have an optional punch out center.
When punched, the frames are roughly the size of a slide mount. I
chose to leave my frame intact on the Proud layout.
If you grew up in the 80's
you might remember those clear plastic shoes that were popular circa
1984, sometimes called Jellies. The new products from Creative
Imaginations, really remind me of Jellies. Creative Imaginations
Bits
and Baubles and
Shotz Epoxy Wordz (also manufactured by Creative
Imaginations) are pliable epoxy shapes that add the look of page
pebbles to your layouts without as much bulk.

I used selections from the
Shotz Sports Epoxy Words and the Shotz “Skid” Scrapbook Stickerz on
the Proud layout. Each package of Wordz has approximately 48
different theme-appropriate words. I used plenty on my layout and
have even more left over (for other soccer layouts!)

I added a few Bits and
Baubles accents to my very simple Field of Dreams layout. This layout
consists of some cardstock and the pre-made title from Far and Away.
If you’re really careful you can pry the accents up from cardstock -
however, once you put it down on top of a photo you’d better plan on
leaving it there.

The Soccer Shotz - also by
Danielle Johnson - provided just the color I needed to go with my
pretty washed out rainy day soccer photos from the Spring. The Bits
and Bauble circle tag accents the S in Spring.
And for now, I’m caught up
on soccer pages. However, there’s another game tomorrow...

Design Team
Tip.....
Transparencies
by Theresa N.
There was a time
where I would see all these amazing layouts with journaling over
photos and wonder if everyone but me had a 12x12 printer. Then I
found out about transparencies. These clear pieces of 81/2x11 paper
are an inexpensive way to make it look like you spent so much time in
PhotoShop journaling on top of your photos and best of all it wont
break your bank. I recommend that you do not place these
transparencies directly on your photos because they are not acid free
but to add beautiful journaling, poetry, photos or even clip art to
your layouts.
You can purchase
transparencies at a number of department stores or office supply
stores as well. They can range from $8.00-35.00 depending on the
quantity. Make sure you chose either inkjet or laser for your type of
printer. I usually print on scrap paper first to make sure I like the
look. When ready to print change your printer to transparency paper.
Print on the rough side, which means rough side down in the paper
holder. Also give plenty of time to dry before adhering to your
paper. After trimming you can use brads, eyelets or vellum tape to
adhere the paper for whatever works best for your layout.
The cool thing is
now your not limited to your journaling on cardstock and then
matting. You can print on the transparency and then lay over the
pattern paper letting the underneath shows though. You can also put
it over pre made accents or boarders for different looks. The
possibilities are endless and you get great results. I found that
if I
used it on top of embossed paper, which you would never have been able
to print on, it gave the illusion that it was printed on.
This Fall, a number of companies are coming out with sheets of
transparencies in multi colors and patterns. Look for them, you won’t
be sorry you did. Play and have fun!
Embossed paper by K& Co. I cut out some of the flowers from another
piece of paper then pop dotted a few over the embossed flowers for a
pop. The transparency was used just to add a silly poem for the end
of the book. I didn't have a 12x12 printer but using the transparency
was just as good.

This
was the front page of an album I gave my mom for her birthday. It was
quick and easy just printing on the transparency and adhering with
vellum tape

Me
and my kids. I used a little quote on the embossed K&Co paper and
adhered again with the vellum tape. Also ribbon and charms were added
for accents.

Design Team Pick.....
Each month a member
of our Design Team will be sharing their "Pick" of the month. This month,
Beth has chosen Bazzill Cardstock.
Ask anyone who knows me.
Ask my kids and my poor, long-suffering dear husband. Ask my
neighbor who I drive crazy all the time. Hello, my name is Beth and
I am a cardstock-addict. Yes, I can stand up and admit it. I am
completely, absolutely, no question about it, hooked. I just love
it. All of it. I love all sizes, all colors, and all the different
textures.
As a scrapbooker, there
is no other supply that is so often used or more versatile.
Cardstock is used for backgrounds, titles, photo mats, journal
boxes, paper piecing, envelopes, tags, punches, and embellishments
of all sorts. It can be ripped, torn, crumpled, straightened,
crinkled, inked, and chalked. The best thing about cardstock though,
is its price. For the most part, cardstock helps keep the cost of
this crazy addiction (I mean hobby) reasonable and affordable for a
lot of us on a budget. And with all the colors and textures to
choose from the possibilities are endless.
|
|
Whenever I start to
scrap, the first thing I reach for is my cardstock stash. I always
begin there and often times, it’s close to the only supply I’ll use.
In “The Falls” layout, I used the Bazzill cardstock for my
background paper and the photo mats. I used cardstock for the title
and the outdoor scene is comprised of cardstock trees and rocks. I
used cardstock for the journaling box as well.
In the Layout “Me Me Me”,
I simply color blocked the pages to coordinate with the photos and
added a few eyelets to add interest. I used the cardstock again as
background, photo mats, borders, and for the journaling.

Now the “Busted” and
“Beach Babes” layouts just go to show that cardstock used in it’s
simplest form can still be plenty helpful in turning out a cute and
quick layout.
Bazzill paper company introduced their monochromatic packs, which
offer a great solution to those of us who are color-challenged. You
know the type, like me, who hem and haw for hours over matching up
all those different colors to create an eye-pleasing layout that
actually coordinates. With these packs the guesswork is gone. On top
of that, all of the mono packs match each other, too, making the
coordination a simple and painless process. So during your next
shopping trip, be sure to stock up on all the wonderful cardstock.
And I’ll see you at the next cardstock-addicts meeting!
