Making Memories Simply Stated Rub On Alphabets
These are my new
favorite scrapping goodie! With 6 fonts, in 2 different
sizes, and 2 different colors there is bound to be at least 1
(or more) that you must try! The larger size fonts have the
upper case sold separately from the lower case. The smaller
size fonts include both upper and lower together. Regardless
of size these rub ons feature many multiples of each letter
making them a tremendous value - they can be used on so many
pages before you run out. In the layout "32" I used the
Evolution font in both white and black. I love the
cohesiveness of having the same font on the different sections
of the layout. Other products on this layout are: KI
Memories Black Flower paper, White Bazzill Cardstock, and the
Making Memories Evolution font magnetic stamp set (which
matches the rub ons). Another great way to use the alphabet
rub ons is to combine the small and large size fonts within a
page to place emphasis in your titles. On the layout, "Wise
Old Man" I wanted to use a long journaling style title, but
didn't want it to take up the entire page. I used the small
size Heidi font rub ons for my less important words in the
title, then used the large size Heidi font where I wanted
emphasis. Other products used in this layout are: Bo Bunny
double sided boy collection papers, MM metal corners, frame,
and ribbon.

Bo Bunny Doubled Sided
Papers and Shabby Thoughts Stickers
The new Bo Bunny collection
features double sided papers in a very nice heavier weight.
The prints within each color group coordinate with each other
for mixing and matching and make putting your page together so
easy. In the layout "Jack, five hours old" I used 3 different
papers from the boy collection. The Bo Bunny Shabby Thoughts
Stickers are printed on a clear background and feature words
in a variety of fonts in either black or white. For this
layout I used a variety of different words from the white
random thoughts sticker sheet as my journaling. Other
products used in this layout are: Making Memories Simply
Stated white small Heidi font alphabet rub ons, MM metal
alphabet charms, ribbon charm, and ribbon.

Daisy D's Defining Moments
Collection and Transparency Frames
The defining
moments collection by Daisy D's features plaids, stripes, and
monochromatic printed word papers with themes like summer,
brother, son, etc. The colors work together beautifully.
The coordinating line of transparency frames give you the
extra embellishment to make the layout really come together
easily. In the layout "Indian Summer" I used the summer
theme grass color paper, summer stripe paper, and the baby
theme paper in pool color. Instead of using the Summer
transparency frame as an actual frame, I cut it apart into 3
sections. I used the word summer at the top of my focal
point photo mat as my title. I used the summer
definition as an accent on the bottom of my layout, and I used
the blank remaining section of the frame to computer print my
journaling onto so that I didn't have to cover up any more of
that beautiful background than I had to! Other products
used in this layout are: Making Memories Simply Stated
Rub on Alphabet in Providence font (Indian), Making Memories
Magnetic Alphabet Stamp Set in Providence font (Henry), silver
mini brads.

Deja Views Fresh Prints Papers and Swatch Books
Deja Views new
line of coordinating papers are incredibly versatile and
useable. Each color group: blueberry, peaberry, and
cranberry has several coordinating prints to mix and
match. There are also vellum quote sheets in the themes:
character, friends, travel, inspiration, love, childhood.
The quotes are preprinted in black text with several of the
quotes including coordinating color accents. These can be
cut apart to use on your pages and cards. My favorite part
of the collection is definitely the swatch books! These are
little bound books in each of the 3 colors groups that
feature 6x6 papers in all the prints and solids for that
collection plus coordinating tags, washers, quotes, and
alphabets. All of the extras are die cut to punch out
easily - no detailed cutting involved. The swatch books are
6x6 and include 40 sheets of patterned paper, 2 full sets of
cardstock alphabet die-cuts, 1 verse cardstock sheet, 1
die-cut mini-swatch cardstock sheet, 1 die-cut washers
cardstock sheet, 2 die-cut tags cardstock sheets, and 1
die-cut frames cardstock sheet. In the layout "One Year
Old" I used the blueberry weathered and blueberry stripe
papers. From the blueberry swatch book I used alphabet
letters (old), a washer (love), tag, and the tan solid
paper. The vellum quote is from the childhood quote sheet.
Other products used are: chatterbox letter stickers, MM
alphabet tags, metal tag and dymo labeler.

Laughter -
One of my favorite scrapbook
product designers is Karen Foster. She creates wonderful
paper designs, stickers and embellishments that are so
versatile! I can usually find one her of products to
compliment many of my layouts. For my "Laughter" layout I
wanted to create a TRIAD color scheme. So, I used 2
different pattern papers by Karen Foster and 2 colors of
the wonderful Bazzill cardstock. For the title I
used a Making Memories rub-on word. They are so easy to
use...just cut out the word, rub it on, and it's stuck to
your page! I had fun making the collage-style tag with a
bunch of goodies: Creative Imagination stickers, Karen
Foster collage block sticker, Making Memories "Giggle"
definition, and a purple DoodleBug token. Try
using a variety of products to create your own page
accents.
** Mother’s
Day Cards **
After you create a layout
don’t throw your scraps away. There are so many possible
uses for them. I decided to use mine to create some
Mother’s Day Cards. Due to lack of time, I used to just run
out and buy cards for my Moms. But, now that I have so many
scrapbooking supplies, I decided to start putting them to
good use…even the “leftovers.”
The first one is pretty simple
and can be finished rather quickly. I used some of the new
Art Warehouse paper, wrapped some black twine around the
front and stuck down some alpha stickers and a Karen Foster
block sticker. Then, on the inside I wrote my own personal
note to my Mom. I’m sure she will love it!

The second one was made with
scraps of pattern papers from in the same color family. I
used a Making Memories metal rim tag at the bottom
with some text paper behind it along with some alpha
stickers, stamps and Sonnets Clear Poemstones for the
title on the card.

I wanted to go for an “aged”
look for my last card. Walnut Ink is a very suitable
product to create this look. I simply used a Fresh Cut
by Rebecca Sower, sanded it with some sand paper and
then soaked it in diluted walnut ink. (There are still a
few Fresh Cuts left in the clearance section suitable
for making cards. Check them out!) The lace along the
bottom was walnut inked as well.
Fathers-

Using slide mounts is an easy way to
"frame" some very small pictures. To change the look of
these plain black slide mounts on my "Fathers" layout
I sanded all the black off and painted them with 2 coats of
acrylic paint. After they dried, I dabbed a stamp pad over
the top to create a speckled look. Even though the focal
picture is not from long ago, the 2 mini photos were printed
in sepia so they would coordinate much better with the brown
tones . To complete the layout I used a sheet of Karen
Foster Designs wonderful line of heritage papers. Try a
sheet or two and tuck your journaling underneath it like I
did here.

FreshPrints
I really LOVE this new line
from Deja Views. With a million pictures that are
stacking up waiting to be put in a layout, this product
makes everything simple! My new favorite is the Swatch
Book. It comes with 40 sheets of patterned papers, die
cut frames, tags and shapes, 1 sheet of quotes and
sayings, and 2 sheets of alphabets!! Throw in some
cardstock and you have enough goodies to make plenty of
layouts! There are also several sheets of matching 12x12
patterned papers to accent the whole length of your
layouts. When you are out of words to say, they also
offer a 12x12 vellum sheet full of verses and quotes in
different fonts. A perfect quote can sum up the perfect
layout!

I added cardstock and a few
brads to complete this layout. I used a couple sheets of
12x12 patterned paper for borders and photo mats and
strips of the stripe paper from the swatch book to accent
the layout. I adhered the vellum quote with glue dots,
added some die cut alphabets and shapes, and the layout
was done!

With this Layout, I only
added cardstock and brads again! The tan strip that I
used as a border is actually from the 6x6 swatch book.
Since it's hidden behind the photo, it seems to go all the
way across...but it doesn't :) I also used the circle die
cut accents to act as photo anchors and attached it with
brads. This time I used the quotes and sayings from the
swatch book and MORE alphabet letters!!
This LO is my favorite, very
simple but very classic! I added a few embellishments
such as brads and a charm, Making Memories eyelet quote
and ribbon, and alphabet stamps for the subtitle. I used
the die cut frames, tags, shapes, and alphabet letters
from the swatch book and the vellum quote. With the 3 LOs
I completed here, I used the alphabet on them...and still
have plenty more letters left over! I also used the frame
in this LO and LOVE it. Very easy to dress up, I added
ribbon and a charm, and my accent was complete.

DeFining Moments
Daisy D's new Defining Moments
line is another must-have for any scrapper. The rich colors
work for just about any type of layout. And the word papers
are perfect - they are touching and yet still realistic.
For example, the "Son" page features the words "hero",
"collector", and "adventure". I used this paper for my A
Son layout. I cut the words out that I wanted to use - Son
for my title block and hero as an accent - and then the page
came together quickly. I added the Love Stripe coordinating
paper to my background of Bazzill cardstock and a few
embellishments and I was nearly done. I loved having the
word "hero" available to me. My son was hospitalized for
two months after his birth and I've not scrapbooked that
time yet because I'm not sure how. When I get the nerve,
I'll journal about his hospital stay and how glad we are to
have him home, but that'll have to wait for now. I have
quite a few accents that say "A Boy is a Joy" and "All Boy"
but neither of those express how I feel about my brave
little guy. The Daisy D's paper did, though.
Next, I moved on to the
birthday card I had to do for my cousin. We were running
late for her party and I needed a card quickly. I debated
heading to the store to buy a card, but didn't feel like
standing in a checkout line. I still had the Daisy D's
paper out on my table and so I grabbed the Daughter Plaid
and a piece of lavendar cardstock and started working. I'm
out of printer ink and need to get her card done, so I
pulled out the Making Memories Expressions Magnetic Stamp
Set. The stamp set, which comes with both "Happy" and
Birthday" among other expressions such as "Live",
"Life", "Dream", "sassy" and "Achieve" is perfect for
cardmaking and scrapbooking. I can see using "Achieve" on a
graduation card or layout and "Happy" paired with "Holidays"
would make quick work of a Christmas or other winter-holiday
card. For me "Happy" and "Birthday" finished up my card
quite quickly. I didn't have a coordinating color of stamp
ink so I grabbed one of the long-forgotten Zig pens and
inked my stamp. After cutting out strips around "Happy" and
"Birthday" I adhered it and a stamped ballon accent to my
card and it was finished. My cousin loved it and it took me
minutes thanks to the Making Memories Expressions Magnetic
Stamp Set.
