Other News .....

During December we will be closed a couple of times. The first will be December 18th through the weekend. We are going into the city to see the Christmas Show at Radio City. (I cannot wait!, Have not seen it since I was a little girl.) So, the site will be open during this time, but Orders will not ship until the Following Monday, Dec. 22nd.

Also, the week during Christmas is very slow here, so during that week we will have the site up, but orders may not ship until after Christmas. I will do my best to get any orders out that I can, but it is a busy family time for me as well as for most of you, so there is a chance that orders placed December 22nd through the 27th, may not ship until sometime the week after Christmas. Thank you for understanding!

Below,Jennifer K., Emily B. and Mary H. share their layouts and thoughts on Inspirables, Tag Types, Stuffed Ups,Tag Alongs, Simply Stated Rub-Ons, Kopp KlipIts, & Kopp Cardstock Stickers.

Inspirables by Emily B.

This new line of leather, metal, or stone sticker embellishments from EK Success can add lots of fun lumpiness to your layouts.  The stone embellishments are surprisingly lightweight and easy to attach with the strong holding self adhesive back.  In the Rejoice in the Season tag I used two of the stone stickers with some Holiday themed printed paper, solid cardstock, and Holiday fibers for a fast but handmade page embellishment.

Metal Rimmed Adhesive Tags, Tag Types Alphabet Stickers, All Stuffed Up by Emily B.

These ready to stick metal rimmed tags are so much fun!  The letter stickers are easy to place on the tags; and with a nice pop dot style adhesive backing, the tags stick on to your layout in a snap.  The All Stuffed Up pre-made envelopes are in coordinating colors to the tag type alphabet stickers and they work great together on layouts.

On the "My Pumpkin" layout I mixed up the different colors of the autumn tag type alphabet stickers to make my title, then combined the tags with magic mesh and a simple matted photo for my layout.

On the "Sweet Cheeks" layout I combined the alphabet sticker metal tags with a coordinating all stuffed up envelope to hold a small journaling card.

Tag Alongs by Mary H.

The new Tag Alongs by Deluxe Designs feature the work of Katherine Brooks are the latest addition to the 3-D look world.  The Tag Alongs were inspired by the Tagging Along Idea Book and feature the same tag shapes as are available in the Deluxe Tag Templates.  At first look, these tags truly look 3-D, but feature newer techniques than most of the 3-D look options.  Some of the techniques used are Wet Embossing, embossing with the Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel, letter beads, tags on tags, and stamping and yet these tags are flat, adding the look but not the bulk of these innovative techniques.

I used the tags throughout the 6 x 6 album I did for my Grandma.  On the title page, I paired a tag from the wedding theme with a photo of my grandparents and some vellum and made a beautiful and effective page.

I've also used the Tag Alongs on pages in my daughter's book.  The photos on "Beauty Lives Here" have been sitting on my desk since May.  I wanted to do a special page since I loved these photos so much.  The Tag Alongs I used feature a Deluxe Cut butterfly, brads, punches, stamping, buttons, and ribbon.

These Tag Alongs look so 3-D that I touch them each time I look at the pages just to make sure they're flat!

Using Scrapbook Supplies for Holiday Projects  by Mary H.

As the holiday approach it seems that the money flies out the window much faster than it comes in.  For that reason, I'm trying to use as many of the supplies I already own to make the holidays special.  One of my favorite things to do with my supplies is to decorate composition books.  The books, available for around a dollar at most discount stores, are a perfect gift.  I made the "Bride" composition book for my cousin's girlfriend, whom he is proposing to on Christmas Eve.  I used some Rebecca Sower paper that I've had forever, got the composition book at Wal-mart, and added one of the new Inspirables stones that I got not too long ago.  This simple composition book took a few minutes to put together and I'm sure she'll use it to record wedding preparations or as a journal to record her thoughts about planning the wedding.

I've used some supplies to make gift albums.  I'm in the process of putting together five gift albums.  I've used paper, stickers, eyelets and brads that I've already had.  I decided to do 6 x 6, since I could get four pages out of each sheet of cardstock.  I picked up the albums for $11.95 each and I've got some gifts to really be proud of.

Lastly, I'm making Christmas cards for close family and friends.  I've done two on the theme of "Rejoice".  The red one uses another stone Inspirable and some Christmas patterned paper.  I added a wire ornament hook and the card was done in a snap.  The green one uses a Making Memories metal word, a Making Memories Simply Stated Rub-on, and letter stamps with some patterned paper, ribbon, and buttons.  Simple, easy cards that I think people will really enjoy.

If you're low on money or just want to give something other than a gift certificate, consider using some of your supplies to put together some gifts that people will appreciate.

Kopp KlipIts & Simply Stated by Jennifer K.

Heaven Sent & Baby Girl

I made these two baby layouts in preparation of the arrival of a friends new baby girl that's due in the next few weeks.  (Which is why there are no pictures yet.)  After completing the pages, I've decided I wanted to finish them off with very simple black & white photos.  I really want these pages to stay simple, and focus only on the new baby. I think I will be able to capture that with the very few accents I used on these 2 layouts.

In the Heaven Sent layout, I used pastel color cardstock, and the new Simply Stated Baby rub ons, from Making Memories. I was very surprised by how easy the rub ons were to use. And with all the different sayings and fonts on one sheet, their uses and versatilely are endless. Use them on cards, album pages, gifts, and even put them right on your photos.

On the Baby Girl layout, I used Baby Girl Klip It's by Kopp Designs. These are great cardstock sheets (which you cut out) that are quick and easy to use, and give you the look of lots of embellishments without the bulky pages. Or if you like bulky pages, you can add your own accents to the cut outs to give them a 3D effect. The cutouts are very realistic looking, and the colors are not over bearing nor are they too light like some other cut outs on the market.

The Magic of Christmas

I really love the way all the colors came together on this layout. It's hard to tell from the scan, but the large holly sticker in the corner of the photo is trimmed in gold which matches the gold vellum that the photo is mounted on. Bo Bunny press makes the coordinating holly paper, and "Bring in the Holly" stickers, which is the large strip on the left of the layout, and the large holly in the corner. Also in the corner I once again used Making Memories Simply Stated rub ons. The whole page is finished off by being mounted on a sheet of Making Memories Brocade Dark Deep Red paper from their Heritage collection.

Christmas 2002

This page was so quick and easy. I took a simple sheet of green card stock, and with a white gel pen I just put dots all over the page. I then mounted my photo on cranberry cardstock and used misc buttons and fiber to coordinate with the Christmas Accent stickers by Kopp Designs. Like the cut outs in the Baby Girl layout, these stickers have the real look of bulky embellishments, with the simple ease of using a sticker. The title was done using Doodle Bug Fancy Pants white ABC stickers. Once again the whole layout was finished off by mounting it on a sheet of paper from Making Memories Heritage Collection. (Scroll Dark Deep Red)

EK/Hasbro Game Time papers

My family LOVES board games and when I saw these papers, I knew I had to have them.  When I got them home I realized that while they are great for layouts of board games (Game Day) they were great for layouts beyond board games – such as New Glasses.

Tag Types

Gone are the days of trying to figure out which letter stickers fit which size of metal-rimmed tags.  Tag Types by EK Success remove all guesswork and eliminate those hanging j’s and y’s.  The tags come ready-to-stick with a foam adhesive backing.  The matching stickers fit perfectly inside the rims and come in 12 different styles including clear, heritage, patriotic and wedding.

Tag Types are a quick and easy way to add dimension and fun to your layouts.  On Tailgate, I used the Clear alphabet.  On Camp and New Glasses, I used Heritage.

Deluxe Cuts Tag Alongs

The Tag Along series by Deluxe Cuts adds dimension and fun without any bulk.  The images look three-dimensional, but are actually printed on cardstock stickers.  Just peel and adhere to your layout -- no cutting or gluing required.

Inspire2 Dream

If you haven’t tried these awesome papers yet, you have to check them out.  Add a photo, attach one of the coordinating tags and you’re able to enjoy your fabulous finished page.

Design Team Pick.....

Each month a member of our Design Team will be sharing their "Pick" of the month. This month, Jackie shares ways to create Holiday Cards & Tags using Scrapbook & Stamping Supplies.

It's hard to believe it but it's that time of the year again!  If you are anything like I am, your schedule is over-committed with dozens of cookies to bake, cleaning, shopping and that's all in addition to your regular duties.  Anyone that knows me understands that for the most part, I like simple things.  For example, home-cooked but simple meals appeal to me so it's no surprise that "keeping it simple" carries over to my scrapbooking hobby.

Most of us are scrapbook materials collectors as much as we are users of all these wonderful products.  How many of you have a couple of stickers left on a sheet or one of those great Making Memories vellum tags?  Come on. Raise your hand.  It's okay because many things that you already have on hand combined with just a little something new can really personalize your cards and gifts for the holiday season and for the coming year.

This first holiday card is so very simple.  It was made with a piece of dark green Bazzill, one sticker from Bo-Bunny Press and my most favorite new product, the Making Memories Simply Stated rub-on words.  The look of the sticker gives the impression of layered cardstock that has been slightly sanded.  I had always been hesitant to try rub-ons fearing that I would mess up this one time use product.  I was so wrong!  By following the directions on the package and taking my time I found rub-ons to be very forgiving when I had not rubbed quite hard enough.  This was accomplished by slowing peeling back the paper and then replacing it for a little more rubbing when I realized that the sentiment was not fully adhered to the cardstock.

For the slide mount, I used 3L's Adhesive Transfer Sheet to make the front of the mount tacky.  I then dipped the mount in acid-free Iridescent Party Ice.  The Simply Stated rub-on word Celebrate was transferred to a scrap of vellum then the slide was finished off with an iridescent snowflake spangle.  This embellished slide mount would look great adhered to a small gift bag, a handmade greeting card or even a page in your album!

As a part of my Kentucky heritage I've found that as I grow older, so does my love for the country quilts that I so fondly remember.  When I saw these snowflake stickers the first thought that came to mind was quilt squares!  This inspired me to whip out my mini ProvoCraft sewing machine and stitch a border.  Red and green cardstock by Bazzill.  White cardstock unknown.

This simple but elegant card is made with navy cardstock and silver handmade paper.  I used a Making Memories rimmed vellum tag, a vellum snowflake sticker (Stickopotomus) and to complete the look, sheer blue ribbon.  If you have several of these tags, they would look very attractive on a small holiday tree as ornaments.

Throughout the year there are many other reasons to make and send cards.  There's always someone that I need to write but life circumstances sometimes get in the way.  For that person, a simple "Sorry I Haven't Written" card is easy to make.  To create the border I created a text box in Word slightly smaller than the overall size of the card.  The wire elephant is a paperclip from Pier One attached with some DMC floss.

I'm also rather sure that in your scrapbook collectibles you have one or more of the cute little frame-up people.  Who can resist them?  Who has mistakenly purchased more than one unknowingly?  I know that I have and it's very easy to create a themed card with these delightful die-cuts.  In this example I used cardstock, patterned paper and some buttons for a quick and cute Halloween card that would make children of all ages smile.

For many people this is the gift-giving season and that creates a need for tags, tags, and more tags.  Often, special gifts mean special tags and these are all quick and simple.

The first tag is nothing more than a Snip-Its tag that was cut out and embellished with some raffia and green cotton twine.

The second tag was created using the Coluzzle tag template, light blue cardstock and vellum.  The tags were then joined together by a silver eyelet then embellished with vellum snowflake stickers, sheer blue ribbon and a silver cord.

The last tag is just right for the country-look.  This tag was also cut using a Coluzzle knife and a template.  The cardstock is kraft-colored and the patterned paper is by Mustard Moon.  The "Just for You" stamp is by Stampin' Up.  Buttons, red and natural raffia completes the look.

I know that you love this inspiring hobby and all its "stuff" as much as I do.  Now, get busy creating!
